Materials Handling Equipment Company is pleased to announce a new training program for key individuals with responsibility for productivity and safety in material handling and warehousing. This 4-hour seminar, accompanied by an informational binder, focuses on:

Safety & Ergonomics In
Material Handling and Warehousing

The need for this program has developed because material handling and warehousing have:
- Unique safety and productivity issues
- New relevant OSHA regulations and guidelines
- Specific equipment safety hazards

Material handling and warehousing dramatically affect productivity.

While many general safety programs touch on these areas, they often don't fully address specifics. This program was created by bringing together material handling and safety professionals to focus on safety and productivity issues surrounding material handling and warehousing operations.

Topics included in this course are:
- Forklift Operator Training and Safety
- Loading Dock Safety
- Pedestrian Safety in Warehousing and Material Handling
- Overhead Lifting and Hoist Safety
- Conveyor Safety
- Labeling
- Rack Safety - particularly pallet rack
- Lift Assists
- Flammable and Hazardous materials storage
- Drum Handling
- Guarding
- Doorways and Door Safety

ERGONOMICS
The basic principles of ergonomics are to match the job and workplace to the worker instead of forcing the worker to adapt to a standardized workplace. While new OSHA standards will dramatically impact this area, the real focus is how to reduce injuries and improve productivity through better ergonomic design of material handling and warehousing operations. This new safety training program is not only to improve safety with all the associated benefits:

- Less lost time;
- Better recruiting;
- Lower workers compensation costs;
- Less injuries

But also how to actually improve productivity of warehousing and material handling operations.

NEW OSHA REGULATIONS
There will be specific focus in this seminar on the two most recent OSHA regulations to impact material handling and warehousing operations:

- OSHA 1910.178 lift truck operator training regulations effective December 1999
- New Ergonomic Standards from OSHA effective January 16, 2001.

Safety & Ergonomics In Material Handling and Warehousing will be conducted my Mr. Art Varga, ARM CIC, Director of Training & Risk Management at Materials Handling Equipment Company.

Materials Handling Equipment Company is offering this program free on a "space available" basis in a special session at our facility.. Attendees will receive a 3-ring binder covering these topics as a "take away" from the meeting.

To reserve your spot at this program, please contact Art Varga at 1-800-873-5333; or click here to inquire online; or simply contact your Materials Handling Equipment Company representative. Space is limited - on a first come first serve basis.

I encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to not only improve the safety of your operations - but improve productivity at the same time.
